Five Minute Audio Visual Competition
On Tuesday evening we had our 5 minute AV Competition, with 10 entries in total we were in for a splendid evening.
The entries consisted of travel Logs, Snow Scenes, Nature slideshows, images from around our Coast and down the Coal Mines. After all the sequences had been viewed members and guests were given a voting paper to vote for their favourite and that decided the winning AV. The winner was Mr. Roger Johnstone with his AV entitled The Fascination of Fungi, congratulations Roger on your winning sequence.
The image shows Roger being presented with his Trophy by our President Mr. Howard Harrison.

Mr. Kenneth Wilmore
Its with great sadness we have to announce the death of Mr. Kenneth Wilmore. Ken passed away today after a short illness. Ken was a long standing member of Nelson Camera Club and also a member of our committee serving in many roles including President, he will be greatly missed. His Funeral will take place on Thursday 17th February at Higherford Methodist Church, 10.15am then at Burnley Crematorium at 11.30am.

Results from the L&CPU AV Competition
The Lancashire & Cheshire Photographic Union Annual AV Competition, hosted by Wilmslow Guild AV Group, was held on Saturday 12th February.
The audience of over 100 people enjoyed 39 entries, which covered a wide variety of topics and AV styles.
As well as regular members of Wilmslow and Leeds AV Groups, visitors attended from various clubs around the L&CPU Region, as well as North Wales, Midlands, The Netherlands, USA & Canada, making an International event.
The Judge Keith Brown FRPS MPAGB APAGB EFIAP FIPF, commented that he thought the overall standard was high and that he enjoyed viewing all of the entries.

Mr. Stanley Crick
Sorry to be the bearer of sad news. Its with great sadness that I have to inform you all that Stanley passed away yesterday, he was 93 years old. Stanley was made a Honorary Member of Nelson CC some years ago as was his wife Jean. They both had been members of our club for more than 50 years, both being a big part of the running of the club, Stanley will be sadly missed, and our condolences go to Jean his wife. The image shows Stanley & Jean receiving their Honorary Member awards in 2014.

ICPA Digital Knockout 2022 - Results
Padiham Camera Club hosted this years Knockout at Ighten Leigh Social Club Padiham Road Burnley. There was 12 clubs who entered 10 images each, total 120 images, which was no easy task for the judge, who was Mr. Andrew Rothery from Halifax. Andrew had only 7 knockout rounds to find a winner, which he eventually did. The winning club on the night, only by a tie-break decision was Leyland Photographic Society followed by Blackburn Camera Club then Darwen Camera Club.
Nelson came a creditable 7th place.Well Done Everyone and well done Padiham for hosting the competition.

L&CPU Annual Club Print & Projected Image Competition 2 & 3 April 2022 – Results.
The L&CPU 2022 Annual Club Competitions were held over two days at Elm Bank Conference Centre, Eccles.
The images were judged by Leo Rich. ARPS DPAGB HonPAGB EFIAP/g, Stephanie Cook DPAGB APAGB EFIAP/b and Eddy Lane ARPS DPAGB EFIAP APAG.
The judges scored a total of 840 images from 38 clubs with the Open section opening the competition and nature after lunch.
Chorley PS won the Open section with 210 points, Poulton le Fylde PS a very creditable 2nd place with 207 points and North Cheshire PS with 205 points.
The Nature section was won by Chorley PS with 107 points, Nelson CC close on their heels with 106 points and Oldham PS with 105 points. Very Well Done Nelson CC.
We had 2 maximum scores of 15 and both entries came from our President Mr. Howard Harrison,
congratulations must go to Howard. We gained 2nd place in the Nature & 19th place in the Open with a final club ranking of 11th out of 38 clubs. Well done everyone. Full set of scores HERE

L&CPU Individual Print and DPI Competition 2022
This weekend saw the judging of the L&CPU Annual Print and PDI Competitions over the two days.
The results are in…………
A really good two days of judging, overall the numbers entered was lower than previous years with an overall entry of 2,036 (1381 PDI’s & 495 prints).

May 2022, Print & Digital Image Competition
Tuesday 17th May we held our second competition of the season, we had a total of 59 entries, 36 digital & 23 prints. The judge on the night was Mark Williams from Chorley and a member of Padiham Camera Club who did a first class job of judging. His remarks and tips were extremely helpful to everyone who entered.
